WANA (Mar 13) – An Iranian international law researcher and pro-Palestine activist has been suspended by Yale Law School due to her statements in support of Palestine.

Yale Law School in the United States suspended the Iranian researcher, Helia Dotaqi, citing allegations fabricated by a pro-Israeli website using artificial intelligence.

Dotaqi was accused of ties to the Palestinian group Samidoun and subsequently suspended for her pro-Palestinian statements.

This suspension came after Jewish Onliner, an AI-driven website, alleged that she supported Samidoun, which the U.S. designates as a terrorist organization.

In response, Dotaqi issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter), condemning Yale for suspending her based solely on baseless allegations without granting her a chance to defend herself.

She also expressed concern over the use of artificial intelligence to spread misinformation and threaten freedom of expression.

Yale’s decision has sparked widespread criticism, with many condemning it as an attack on free speech and Dotaqi’s rights, while also raising concerns about AI-driven disinformation.

In her statement, Dotaqi emphasized that she was suspended due to her pro-Palestinian speeches, following a fabricated AI-generated report from a pro-Israeli platform labeling her a “terrorist.”

The Iranian-American researcher noted that her suspension occurred “just hours after the report was published,” and that despite her requests for a fair hearing and religious accommodations during Ramadan, Yale denied her the opportunity to present her case.

She also pointed to a conflict of interest in the selection of the lawyer handling her interrogation, accusing Yale of suppressing pro-Palestinian activism and free speech.

Dotaqi called on Yale to not only lift her suspension but also take steps to restore her reputation and compensate for the damages.

She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting Palestine and resisting American imperialism, urging public solidarity in her case.
